Coconut – Toffee Bars

¼ cup butter softened
¼ cup shortening *
½ cup brown sugar packed
1 cup flour

Heat oven to 350. Cream butter shortening and sugar. Blend in flour. Press
into 13x9” Bake 10 minutes. Spread with topping. Bake 25 minutes or until topping is golden. Cool slightly. Cut into bars, about 3”x1”.

Nut-Coconut Topping:

2 eggs, between
1 cup brown sugar packed
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup shredded coconut
1 cup chopped almonds or pecans

*I used all butter for the crust.
